Final Notes...

Stuff that I leanred that can't be shown through the videos, is the amount of team work and how important it is. I also learned that working with a team can sometimes be difficult but problem solving skills come in handy a LOT. Team work is a big thing in making a video. You have to work TOGETHER to get a product that everyone is hppy with. If there wasn't good team work all the videos I participated in would have been a big mess because of all the disagreements. Another thign I learned from this class was how to use PP. This I guess can be shown through my videos, but personally I want to say it here. PP was the main program in which ALL the work was done. I never knew how to use it and this year I learned. I was able to learn how to add effects, transisitons, music, edit, and a lot more.

My experience in this class was like no other really. I never had a class where you would ALWAYS work with someone. This class was always fun and there was never a dull moment. Everyone was always on the go. There were times where things were off but we all made it work. I enjoyed this class even when it made me want to pull my hair out.

!!!FINAL!!!

Early in the year, I learned the importance of getting the settings correctly when first starting a project in Premiere Pro(PP). Along with that I learned the importance of EDITING. This can all be seen in the first film that I did with a partner. Right off the bat the size of the video is really small and if the settings were set CORRECTLY, that would not have been so.

In my second video the editing process was the big thing that stood out. I took my time in making sure the clips were all cut just right so there was no extra piece of the clips that didn't need to be there. You can see that in the second project video. Also you can see that I leanred from the very first video that I paid close attention while setting the project up first in PP.

Skipping foward to the Cyberbullying project--You can see the group I was in worked hard on editing and getting the message through. You can see that through the style of the film. We decided to do more of a documentry type feel. That was achieve with the way everything was presented with the titles, and they way people were interviewed. And also with how the questions and facts were posted. This all showed me that the way something is presented matters very much. Presenting a project CORRECTLY gets the message across and also makes a piece of work okay to great.

Moving on to the Greetings video--That was the time I learned that music matters! The feel that was trying to be expressed was the christmas time feel (joyous and togetherness). That was acheieve through music. Another thing that can been seen through that particular video is the green screen work. I had to learn HOW to use it and edit clips so I could add a different background. I also learned that colors matter when working with a green screen. I sadly was wearing black and white so I am kind of transperant. But to the best of my ability I edited the green away as much as possible.

Moving on, on the over the shoulder excersise I leanred about Over the Shoulder Shots. It helps the audience feel as through they are IN the conversation or situation as the actor is in. You can see this through the excersise video. What I learned from this was that where the camera is on and OSS is VERY importatnt. Making sure the camera is on the correct shoulder and also it is focused MOSTLY on the other actor is important. Otherwise it just looks all off.

The next video is the values video. My group decided to use my script. From this video you can see the amount of planning that went into the video and all the other skills taht we leanred from the past into play. The over the shoulders, the music, the eidting, etc. Everything that was learned in the past months were all used (mostly). This is shown throught the video and how everything developes.

Going towards the end (or more recent post) of my blog the effect videos are shown. Towards the end of the year I leaned about MANY effects. with that I was able to add to my skills.

My last and final project was The Water is Wide video. The group I was in had a sotry in line and we found creative ways to show the story. We were unable to choose the music but through the picking of clips and effects we were ablt to make a great video.

All of the videos I have helped make have shown the patience I have in editing (I partcipated a fair amount of time editing in almost every video I did) and you can see the amount of planning I contributed. All my videos I tried hard to make serious when needed and a bit humorous when needed. Over the year I was able to leanr about anlges, shots, music, editing clips, adding effects, writing a storyboard and script, excuting everything.
From the first video to the last all this is displayed. As you watch another video the skills greated and get better. If I were to sit and pick VERY specific spots it would be difficult and also very long. In each video I participated in there are big and many examples of what I leanred. I tried to use as much knowledge that I knew in all the videos. Everytime I leanred something new it INSTANTLY became apart of my knowledge and skills. I jusst built and built upon my skills and knowledge of everything.

With working with others I leanred many things from them too. There were many instances where I didn't know how to do something and they taught me. An example is, when using After Effects for the first time Jaay knew a little bit more then I did. As I watched how she did everything I then in returned learned. From that point on I was able to use AE all the time. Another example is working with Estephania, I didn't know how to really control the sound a lot because I kept on forgetting. But watching how SHE did it helped a lot and made it easier for me to editing music.

Not only did I leard from people, I also leared from the plans and leassons Dr. A had planned for us. Throught my blog you can see each excersise that we did. And how each new skill from the excersise was used in my next projects.

The Water is Wide (Final)

1. Our story was pretty much as Mr.Z described, but with our little twist. We added the photots or nature. And we also added the clips of the animals. It was the surroundings of the water that he descibes--getting a bigger picture then just the water. As the video goes on we tried to add as much movement to the water. We also tried to show the transitions from a small portion of water to a larger one.

2. From 1:40-2:09 is what the group is most proud of. It is the beginning of the whole video where the music kicks in. We made the clips with water move to show water ACTUALLY moving instead of it being a still clips and we added the image of the forest to show the nature part of a story. We also added the butterfly to show the animal side of the story. We didn't change any of the colors or anything. We just added movement.

3. 75% of the film was abstract. We did that so as to meet the requirement of the project. And also it added the the story to change the images so they were always so literal.

4. What I learned was that it takes a lot of time to get it all the way you want it. There were quite a few iages that the group took at least 15+ minutes.

5. We didn't really learn anything since our story was pretty much already given to us since we are in band. We just took the story and ran with it with the images.

6. Both my partners helped get the images and also helped in editing. We really worked as a team.

7. I helped with a good portion of editing and also i described what we intended best when questions were asked.

Jabberwocky Abstarct Video

The special effect we used was the Color Replace. We(Estephania and I) changed the color of our Jabberwocky from black and white to red and black. It worked because we were able to have an actual image of the creature. The mood we were trying to convery was the adventurous, intese, battlefield like. The idea we were trying to show by using the image and the effect was the IMAGE of the Jabberwocky. Technocoly we didn't really have a picuter of the creature, and the classes decided on the color red for the actual creature to use.

Effects 2

For the Effects above we chose WAVE WARP from the distortion folder. You change the wave type to triangle. Adjust the wave height by dragging the mouse and make it to 41. And do the same with wave length but to 102. Place the direction degree to 66 degrees. To speed up the actualy speed of the wave place it at -15.5. Have no panning or phase. And place the antialiasing to low. You might see the wave effect in a hallucination.
