Seasons Greeting

`

Reflections:
What Kayla and I did well on was the actually having music (it made things more interesting and gave it another layer instead of us just talking) and also having unique title pages. From the crowd the title pages werw a good hit with everyone. Along with that I think our story of both of us coming from India and Kayla just traveling was a good idea. Again it was different from most of the other groups. Our actual pictures that we had were very nice and fit the story very well too.
What I would have like to have done was have edited the green screen settings better. Other groups edited that very well and I think it would have made the video that much better if I was not transparent. Another things I would have liked to have done better was to edit the music a bit better. I also wish we could have found Indian music but we couldn’t. It would have added more culture to it.
What I did specifically for the video was a lot of editing. Our computers kept crashing and I ended up staying longer to ix the video. Along with that I did some extra editing in a different class in the school library, other than that we split the work 50/50. We also worked together to get the title pages just how we wanted them and we discussed everything such as music and even our backgrounds.

I helped my partner by staying a little bit later here and there to edit and doing more work outside of this class. Also I was able to help figure out little glitches with Premier Pro. What Kayla helped me on was the same thing, little glitchese here and there. This was a really good team work ethic that we both had. We worked together and helped each other out when it was needed.
I would personally want to fix the music editing a little more, and also fix the fact that I am transparent. Along with that I think our video was pretty good.

Greenscreen:Kayla and Cassie

The green screen is put up and it set the lighting correctly (trying to have no shadow, not many differences in the shades of green, no wrinkles, etc. The more differences and imperfections the harder it is to edit.). Then a person stands in front and gets recorded. This color is chosen because it is more likely for a person to NOT wear a bright almost neon green. The problems that can occur:wrinkles in the fabric, differences in the shades of green (cause--lighting), and some areas might have something OTHER then the green screen. Therefore it is harder to eliminate the green screen just right before you start to lose the focus (person) of the video. After Effects was much easy to use for eliminating the green screen. No other thoughts really.

What I Learned

1) Things I learned from this groups video was that using cohesive titles (same style and color) really add to the video. They were colorful and fun and caught EVERYONE's attention.

2) Another thing I learned was that having several different people as interviews and cutting them up into several different parts are very effective. They keep the audience's attention.

3) I learned while watching was that you can have PPT effects in videos.

4) Something I learned from this group was that acting from the group itself can be EXTREMLY fun and effective. The group did a lot of thier own acting (with setting up a scenario) and since they went full out it worked and didn't seem cheesy.

5) Having Crystable[sorry if i spelled it wrong] come in and being so inspirational with a great message and making it so personal was very effective.

Cyberbullying Reflection

What parts of your video are you most satisfied with and proud of?
The music and the answers we got from the interviews.

What comments from others were helpful to you in creating your final draft?
To break up Lomanto's interviews with some other titles and to take out some parts of her interview.

What changes did you actually make on your final video?
We changed the titles for the interviews, fixed the "Prevention" slide and made it multiple slides. We fixed the music and ending.

What changes would you make if you had another day or two?
I would have liked to have added a slide between Betty and Lomanto's interview. my group was going to but we forgot to add it in.

If you had the chance to do the project all over again, what would you do differently?
I would add a few more effects into the video and also I would have aadded a few pictures.

What realizations, discoveries, and understandings did you reach about creating videos?
That I could make a good video using the techniques I learned. That wwith a little luck that getting good interviews is pretty simple, just got to find the right people. To create a GOOD product it takes a lot of extra time.

What other thoughts do you have about your own project?
I think with what we had to deal with (film being ruined and time being lost very easily) my group did a very good job. The film was more informational and I'm okay with that. I liked that we started with one path and we stuck with it.

Titles

This is an example of a still, overlay, and title template.Still titles are ones that are a plain color in which I personally designed it by picking my font and font size and placing the text.
An over lay is when placing a text over the file so it will pop up as the clip is playing. a Template title is already in the programming system called premire pro. When using premire pro to create titles or any program a few tips to including when your using a software program to create titles never use the same colour as your colour font for example if your putting lettering on the sky you wouldn't use sky blue. This is a mistake I had made at first well not exactly with this example of course. You would use templates or still titles when you want an opening scence, interviews to introduce the speaker,or even actors inner thoughts. You would use overlays when you want to display a name and title of someone in an interview.

Lifting/Extracting

A simple cut in the timeline means making a cut in the timeline itself. When cutting the other clips, the timeline will show a gap left between the two clips. A ripple delete edit is when removing a clip without leaving a gap between the clips. This can be achieved by right clicking the selected clip of your choice. Ripple deleting, the other clips to the right of the deleted clip will connect to the clips (left). Lifting and extracting are two ways to cut a clip at one time. This can be done by choosing the in and out point of the second screen of the program and select either the lift or extract function. Lifting is similar to cutting. While extracting is like a ripple delete, in terms of what happens to the clips in the timeline such as the others you had chosen. This is an example of an extracting edit.

Overlays, Inserts

This is an example of an overlay edit. An overlay edit places a clip on top of another clip. To do this, you select the area in which you want the overlay to be at, and then you drag it OVER the original clip. I decided to add the 2nd clip where I did because to me that made the most sense where it ended up. Although the clip was an odd one to edit.

The difference between an overlay and an insert edit is an overlay OVERLAYS a clip, and insert is an inserted clip into another clip interuppting the original clip without losing anything. You would use an overlay when you want a bit of an interruption, while you’d use an insert edit when you want everything nice and smooth. In this case the insert edit works better because it looks smoother then the other cips, overlay.

Baler Interview Project

Title:
My title and credits are both done very well. They are both grammatically correct, the text is centered, and the front is large to see. Also the title fits very well with the content of the video itself.
Clips:
All in all the video is very smooth the only part that I would like to fix would be the last three videos. They are not very smooth.
Format:
the video is in the correct format--the size is just right.

I am very happy with this project for the first legit video taht i have done all by myself I am very proud. Of course I would like to have added background music, but that is for another time. And if I were to do this project over again I would not change anything besides the transitions for the last three videos.

I sadly did not have the chance to work with a partner, I missed class Friday--that lead me to have to do this project by myself one day after school. Although I did help someone with her video (Lizzy Frasca). Once i was done with my video and everything I helped her do the actual process. She was not sure how to actually do the video editing process. So I kind of walked her through everything.

Intro-pro1/Reflection

In this video we practiced editing clips. Cristian Murillo and I worked on this video together in class both editing this clip of a fellow student.

About the product:The end product that Cristian and I came up with I am very happy with. It had a nice starting point and nice ending point. The only thing I wish was different was the size of the video of the student actually talking. I think it was a bit on the small side. For the next video I hope to get some background music or something to add to it.

About the process:When Cristian ended up getting completely lost on what to do I was tere to help guide him. He didn't really get a chance to help me because I wasn't able to make my own video. But I was able to learn the whole process of editing a simple video. I was able to really do the actual process with the help of the slide show taht Dr.A provided for us.

Patience

This video is all about having patience even when it is really hard to.
The video was shot in the middle of the day so it shows how long the older man has been working on the cement. Once seeing his grandson walking on it, he then has to fix it. The lighting helps shows that the older man has worked a long time on the cement.
